Fly Fishing for Sea Run Cutthroat Trout

Garrett Lesko is an Oregon based fly tyer and fly fisherman. He has been featured as a “Master at the Bench” in American Fly Fishing Magazine, written articles that were published in Fly Fishing & Tying Journal, had flies showcased in the book Favorite Flies of Oregon, and has been a guest on the Wet Fly Swing Podcast, The Fly Fishing Insider Podcast, and The Fly Fishing 97 Podcast. He has also been a regular club speaker at fly fishing clubs in Oregon and beyond. He enjoys using his 15+ years of experience in the fly fishing industry to teach fly tying through his local club, other Oregon fly fishing clubs, and beyond. You may also have seen him at one of the many fly tying expos and shows he has tyed at like the NW Expo, Reedsport and Roseburg Fly Tying show, the Fly Tyers Rendezvous,and The Fly Fishing Show. Garrett was also recognized as the “Fly Tyer of the Year” in 2024 from the Oregon council of FFI. He truly has a passion for teaching and showing others the joys of fly tying and fly fishing.

Searun cutthroat are the forgotten anadromous fish of the Pacific Northwest which is unfortunate especially since they’re latin name derives from one of the first american explorers. Garrett is going to talk about what makes these fish so fun to catch on the fly and how to accomplish that. He’ll get into the gear, flies, locations, history, and more when it comes to targeting these fish. Everyone wants the tug from a saltwater boosted salmonid so why hope for steelhead when you can catch the cousin of a steelhead and still get that tug.

Unredeemed unpaid reservations will be invoiced for the cost of the missed meal. Dinner without a reservation is $30 and subject to availability.

Garrett will be speaking to the Rogue Fly Fishers on Wednesday, November 20th at the Centennial Golf Club in Medford. His topic that evening will be Fly Fishing From Jettys.
