Mike is a twenty year resident of Cental Point, Past President of the Rogue Fly Fishers and a fly fisherman for the past 60 years. He grew up fishing the Sierra Nevada country in California. He also fished the mid west, including Illinois, Wisconsin and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. He has had the opportunity to fish for a number of species in 12 states. Retired, he works part time at the Rogue Valley Angler in Medford. Mike advises he is not a “master angler,” but simply a passionate fly fisher and fly tyer.

Following his relocation to Jackson County in 2004 he had two daughters settle in Boise. Visiting them provided an opportunity to familiarize himself with the Owyhee River, closely adjacent to his route of travel. This has resulted in 16 years of fishing the Owyhee in conjunction with his travels between Boise and Jackson County.

Mike has become recognized as a valuable source of information on fishing the Owyhee, and he freely shares his knowledge, periodically leading trips to fish the river. In his January 21st presentation he will address fishing the 12 miles between the Dam and the Hot Springs. He will talk about how to get there, where to camp and where to fish. He will also share what works for him in terms of flies and techniques. He will also talk about past success, both in numbers and size, and what challenges this water is currently facing.
