Have you ever had someone ask you about fly fishing? They wanted to have you teach them how to cast, tell them what flies to use, the waters to fish – moving or still water and the many other little nuances learned over many years that make you a fly fisher. You’re in luck because Dave Grosjacques will be conducting a club sponsored Fly Fishing Clinic.

The beginning fly fishing clinic is going to be on Friday, May 13th at Reinhart All-sports Park. The clinic is for adults. The cost is $25, payable the day of the clinic to Southern Oregon Fly Fishers. You must sign up ahead of time by calling or emailing head instructor Dave Grosjacques, as there are only 10 spots available.

Participants will meet at the Harry and David pavilion in the park, which is between the large baseball field and the river. Topics covered include casting, fishing knots, places to fish, types of fly rods, reels and lines, water safety and types of flies for trout and other species. 

All equipment needed for the clinic will be provided. Participants are asked to bring their own lunch and beverage, plus a seat cushion.

After someone takes the class will they know everything about being a fly fisher – No, but they’ll have an understanding of the basics that will put them on the road to learn to celebrate the art, science an joy of fly fishing.
