AUCTION GOLDEN TICKET RAFFLE WINNER!!

Golden Ticket Raffle WINNER!!!

Sonja Nisson Wins the Golden Ticket Raffle

As part of the workup to the 2024 Southern Oregon Fly Fishers Auction we held a Golden Ticket Raffle.  Tickets were $25 each and only 100 tickets were offered.  There was no limit on the number of tickets a person could purchase.  The raffle ticket sales started at the January 16th meeting and  were to run until the 100th ticket was sold or through Wednesday, February 14th.  The winning ticket would then be drawn on Thursday, February 15th.

The winner could redeem the ticket for one action item.  Four  items were exempted from selection – The Hodge & Sons Reel, The Sawyer Oars, The Lonesome Duck Trip and the Sotar Kayak.

We did not sell the 100th ticket.  We did sell 57 tickets, for a total income of

$1,425.00.  Ticket purchases ranged from single tickets to sixteen tickets.  Each ticket was eligible for selection.  If you purchased one ticket you had a 1.7% chance of winning.  The largest ticket purchaser had a 28% chance of winning.  That is the way these limited ticket number raffles work.

The winning ticket was selected by the computer program.  That ticket was one that Sonja Nisson had purchased.  She redeemed her ticket for 120 Kevin Daniels Tied Chironomids and Wet Flies in a Kevin Daniels Custom Made Wood Fly Box, the fair market value of which had been set at $400.

Our congratulations to Sonja on her success and out thanks to the other 18 participants who supported the auction by purchasing the raffle tickets.

The Auction Goes Live Saturday Morning

At 12:01 AM Saturday, February 17th the 2024 Auction goes live.  Bidding is open to all comers.  You will need to register to bid.  There is a tutorial on how to do this available on our website – soff.org.  If you go to the auction website and click on bidder login the software will walk you through the registration process.  No credit or debit card information is requested in the registration process.  Once registered you can bid on items, place items on a watch list or just tour the site.

Hopefully bidding activity will be strong and all items will sell.  All items have a starting bid and a minimum bid increase increment.  The Retail Value is an advertised price on new items or an estimated fair market value for a used item.  That number does not need to be reached for the item to sell.  Any item with a bid will be sold at the highest bid value as of 11:59 PM Friday, February 23rd.

You can bid on an item more than once to maintain a winning bid.  Proxy bidding is also offered.  When you enter a bid you will be offered a chance to enter a maximum bid.  When somebody raises your bid the software will respond with a minimum bid increment bid on your behalf until your maximum limit is reached.  If another bidder then outbids you will be notified by text and/or email that you have  been outbid.  Be sure to include your cell number and email address in your bidder profile

Winning bidders will be notified by email after the close of bidding on February 24th. and you will be electronically invoiced.  All of your won items will be found in you Cart, accessible through the account icon in the upper right corner of the website screen.  You will then be encouraged to check out through Paypal using a credit card or debit card.   If you prefer to pay by check to cash contact John Smith at 801 710-2515 or at auction@soff.org.

Not all items will receive bids or some may receive limited bidding.  The auction activity will be monitored on a daily basis.  On Wednesday afternoon, February 21st no bid items and slow bid items will be reviewed and initial bid amounts may be reduced and/or buy it now prices may be placed on those items.  Be sure to check your watch list to see if this has happened to something you are interested in.  We also have multiples of a few items but you will only see one item initially offered.  if bidding shows high interest we will likely offer another of the same item around mid week.

There are also currently 5 raffles offered for fly tying tools and materials.  The individual raffles are listed under Admission Tickets on the top page of the auction website.  Clicking on a raffle link will bring up a picture and description of the raffle item and offer a chance to purchase 1 or more tickets.  If you purchase tickets the transaction will be posted in your cart for payment.  You can pay for your raffle tickets and auction winnings at the same time.  The raffle winners will be drawn following the auction closure and you will be electronically notified.

If you have any questions regarding the auction or auction items please contact John Smith at 801 710-2515 or at auction@soff.org.
